Juliette Finzi Hart, Ph.D. | Founder
As Founder and Principal Researcher at Thalassa Research & Consulting, I bring a deep understanding of marine and climate science to the planning needs of coastal communities and businesses.
I hold a doctorate in Ocean Sciences and a graduate certificate in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Engineering: Sustainable Cities from the University of Southern California, which is based in Los Angeles. I currently have a faculty position at USC where I am an Asistant Professor in Marine Environmental Biology. My marine science background spans the entire marine foodweb, from carbon and nitrogen cycling in the open ocean to phytoplankton/zooplankton interactions to feeding dynamics and population genetics of endangered North Atlantic right whales.
Prior to founding Thalassa Research & Consulting, I worked with the University of Southern California Sea Grant Program, focusing on climate change science and policy, coastal marine science and policy, regional ocean governance, and sustainable ecotourism. I have worked with communities as small as Avalon, CA on Catalina Island to cities as large as the City of Los Angeles. While the population numbers differ, the goal is always the same: bring the best science to the discussion so stakeholders can make informed decisions.
Prior to my current work in climate science and policy, I worked as an art consultant in London, England, and have a B.A. from Columbia University, New York. I have always loved both science and the humanities. My current work allows me to merge these interests with the goal of providing the most accurate and up-to-date information to coastal decision-makers and businesses.
